Ever Be

Your love is devoted like a ring of solid gold
Like a vow that is tested like a covenant of old
Your love is enduring through the winter rain
And beyond the horizon with mercy for today

Faithful You have been and faithful you will be
You pledge yourself to me and it's why I sing

Your praise will ever be on my lips, ever be on my lips
Ever Be || Bethel Music

“Count your blessings.” I tell myself every day. My life is more chaotic now than it ever has been. I’m in a place I never dreamed I’d be in. One year ago I had a conversation with my mentor that went something like this: “Sveta, what college are you applying to?” “I don’t know yet,” I replied, “But not Berea.” Thankfully, God in His goodness knew I needed to be here, and He worked on my stubborn heart until I listened. Now one year later I am coming near to the completion of my first year as a student at Berea College. God is near his people, wanting only what is best for each one of us. And I am His person. God is near me. No, He is more than near me; He is in me. And His praise will ever be on my lips.

He is comforter. He is King of glory. Oh, He is so glorious. More than the morning sun over the mountains. More than the green grass of springtime. More than a sunset over the pacific. Dear Jesus is so glorious; so much so His name Son sounds just like sun, only His face is even brighter than the sun. He is worthy of all the worship in the world, and beyond the world. And His praise will ever be on my lips.

I am a control freak of my own life, and that is not who I want to be. I want my heart to desire what my Baba wants me to desire. I am but the stroke of His pen, a character in His story. I pray I live my life as such.  I want my life to reflect His light, for my face to only, and always, be fixed on Him. I want my heart to be in accord to His will, and I want to follow His commandments. That is my goal in life. People often wonder how to know the will of Baba. I think Jesus gives us the answer “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” As we draw near to God, He draws near to us. As we walk by His side, unceasingly seeking to know Him more, His will for our lives becomes what our hearts desire because He lives in us. And His praise will ever be on my lips.

I am so blessed. I complain far too often. There are people in the world with so much less than me that I look like a Bill Gates to them. Even if I only have x amount of dollars to my name, God is still good. I have a room and a bed. I have this computer. I have water. I even have a water bottle with a filter that my mom bought me. I have a cat. I have legs that move, ears that hear, eyes to see the world around me. I can sleep in tomorrow. (That’s always something to praise God for!) I have food served to me three times a day. I have professors who care. I have a mind that God has well equipped to succeed with. I have Jesus. That’s all I really need. Jesus is good. Jesus is life. And His praise will ever be on my lips.

I have the possibility to travel the world. I have a suitcase ready in case a plane ticket ends up in my CPO. How amazing would that be? In the meantime, I have a dance to dance. Life is a dance. I can go to the beat of the music my Jesus plays or I can run and go crazy in it. I can dance through life or I can stress through life, but I will not stress my life. I will dance. I will rest in the arms of the one who said “Come to me, all who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest.” Isn’t that a beautiful promise? It is so reassuring to know I do not even need to control my life because the Creator of the universe has a perfect plan already. Yes, I will go to that place He calls me to; that place which promises peace and life eternal and fullness of joy. And His praise will forever be on my lips.
